About Cheryl

Cheryl began her career in 1979 at Linsday Smithers FCB International after completing a Diploma in Fine Art/Graphic Printmaking at the Johannesburg Technical College. She was promoted to senior art director and worked on several large FMCG clients. In 1989 she formed Touch Designs offering strategy, concept, design, art direction and production for both above and below the line advertising campaigns.

In 1996 Touch Designs merged with Adlines and a subsequent buyout by international McCann Erikson placed Cheryl as managing director of Adlines for a period of 3 years.
Cheryl launched Zenzes in 1998 with the intention of providing a unique way to analyse brand attributes and corporate identities, incorporating the use of mystic disciplines as reference points. The company served a range of clients from shopping centres and motoring to corporate eventing.

Simultaneously to running Zenzes, Cheryl established 2 other companies.

Her love for food led her to create Samp & Souffle in 2001, a company designed around the concept of gourmet travel, and in 2000 The A-Z Philosophy was formed with partner Amanda Grobler. Desiring to develop the understanding and impact of local and international consumer mindsets and how this affects retail and shopping patterns, the company eventually evolved into a sustainable concept, maximizing ‘green’ efforts for goodwill returns.
